Negative trends on the labor market continued and even accelerate during the fourth quarter of the year 2009. With most of the labor market indicators worsening - employment and unemployment rates, the number of unemployed who got a job, underemployed rate and the share of discouraged persons in the total inactive population - it might seem surprising that young population was the least affected, while it is usually the most vulnerable group on the labor market. This analysis tries to shed some light on this and other apparent paradoxes of Moldovan labor market.
