There has been a considerable growth rate in the consumer credit in Moldova during 2006-2007. Even though this is a ‘natural’ phenomenon that accompanies economic growth and an indicator of growing confidence of the consumers in a more stable and high income in the future, there are certain risks related to non-reimbursement of banks’ loans and additional inflationary pressures. Should this be a policy concern for Moldova? What actions are to be taken to avoid these risks?
