In all countries of the world during the life cycle, women earn less, on average, than men, but the difference in consumption between men and women isn't pronounced. Therefore, women are economically dependent for a longer period of time and, given the longer life expectancy, for them, there is a higher risk of poverty. This is one of the main conclusions of the study: ”Why women tend to earn less than men? Assessment based on the National Transfer Accounts”developed within the UNFPA’s project “Expanding Choices: Gender-Responsive Family Policies for the Private Sector in the Western Balkans and Moldova”, implemented by UNFPA with Austrian Development Agency’s support in collaboration with Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection of the Republic of Moldova.

What is the cause of gender disparities in independent economic life?

- What is the economic impact of gender stereotypes related to childcare and domestic activities?

- How do these stereotypes affect women's participation in the labour market?

- How can gender differences in economic life be reduced through public policies?

We are going to answer these questions at the launch of the study: ”Why women tend to earn less than men? Assessment based on the National Transfer Accounts”, on March 3, at 11:00 (AM). The event will take place online via the Zoom.us Platform.

The event will gather representatives of state institutions, civil society, diplomatic missions, development partners, national and international experts.

Romanian will be the working language during the event. Simultaneous interpretation will be available in English
