Economic Commentary, no. 27
This pamphlet targets a declaration made by the Minister of Agriculture of Moldova claiming that the rise in meat production in 2007 is the result of “Ministry creating better conditions for the farmers”. This declaration fails to recognize that the ‘growth’ in the meat production represents a side-effect of the disastrous drought in 2007 that has left cattle-growers without any means to feed the livestock. In result, they started slaughtering the animals en masse. This piece derides the useless and self-appraising statements made by the Moldovan policymakers falling far from the reality.
