As this study shows, the level of Internet development and access conditions for population and companies in Moldova are way behind the regional and global standards. Rate of Internet penetration as of 2007 was only 3.22 percent, and for the broadband Internet the penetration only 1.37 percent. The market, however, has large growth potential, and unleashing it requires policies promoting free and fair competition on the Internet services market.
