In the context of the approaching negotiations on the EU-Moldova DCFTA there is a discussion emerging among the Moldovan policymakers on how to avert some potential negative economic impact, including how to best protect some sensible domestic sectors in case when imports from the EU are free of any tariff. This study makes an analysis of the potential impact that the EU-Moldova DCFTA would bring upon the Moldovan agrifood sector through EU and Moldovan abolishing all trade barriers. We try to look at this impact through the Moldovan CGE model, but we firstly overview key features of the Moldovan agrifood sector to set up the background for the CGE analysis.
