Abstract
The importance of the Defence sector has been often ignored by politicians and central authorities, and this approach has generated a number of major issues to the national defence. Here are some key data on the Defence sector in 2015:
- The base structure of includes Ministry of Defence, Chief of Staff and Commandments;
- The regular troops include three motorized infantry brigades, one special purpose battalion, a peacekeeping battalion, one Artillery division, one military training base and one aviation base. In addition, the troops include one anti-aircraft missile regiment, unities of battle provision and logistics’ unities;
- The Army includes 8,500 personnel units, of which 6,500 are soldiers and 2,000 civilians;
- The approved expenditures for Defence sector in 2015 – 451.9 million MDL ($24.6 million), or 0.51% of GDOP and 1.3% of the Budget.
