Abstract
Although consumption accounts for 92.2% from Moldova’s GDP, little has been done in order to improve consumers’ experience. This policy brief explains how the Association Agreement will change this status-quo.
Once the Agreement has been signed, Moldovan consumers will benefit from the same rights and opportunities as other 500 million EU citizens. Therefore, consumer protection system in Moldova becomes part of the European one – any local consumer will be able to file complaints for EU products and viceversa the European consumer will be able to do the same with Moldovan products sold in the EU.
At the same time, dangerous products will be withdrawn faster from the market; the financial and electronic services will be better regulated; Moldovan consumer will be better informed: the return terms, information on the consumer right organizations and complaint forms will be more available.
