The recently approved 23 percent increase in the tariffs the household pay for natural gas is not really inviting for a ‘cold’ assessment. The high price for gas will have to paid by everyone, be it common citizen or politician; however the ramifications of this decision transcend the social impact per se. This analysis reveals unexpected political economy consequences the decision may have in short- and medium-term.
