This report examines the role of civil society and private sector in the Republic of Moldova in achieving the Millennium Development Goal 6 “Combat HIV/AIDS, malaria and other diseases” (MDG 6). As part of the research process, representatives of the civil society, private sector, relevant governmental institutions and international organizations were interviewed. This document assesses the major trends and current situation in the areas covered by MDG 6. In case of the civil society organizations, the document studies main practices used by these organizations to promote the MDG 6, includind policy advocacy, services provision, raising awareness, information and promotion of best practices. The role of the private sector is assessed from the perspective of the social corporate responsibility, information and partnership with NGOs and State Institutions and community-based activities. The study ends with a set of recommendations designed to increase the role of the private sector and civil society in achieving the national targets of the MDG 6.
