Project title: Monitoring the Implementation of the Economic Growth and Poverty Reduction Strategy;

Implementation period: April 4-25, 2005;

Funded by: Coalition for Rural Economic Development / National Assistance and Information Centre for NGOs in Moldova CONTACT;

Project goal: Assessment of the implementation of the Economic Growth and Poverty Reduction Strategy (planned versus implemented) for the period January-March 2005;

Main activities:

• Analysis of the feasibility of the institutional and legal changes as per EGPRSP provisions;
• Assessment of the effectiveness of the EGPRSM implementation framework: institutions, structures, responsibilities;
• Providing logistic and information support for the advocacy campaign initiated by the CONTACT Center and Coalition for Rural Economic Development;
• Writing a policy study summarizing main findings and including specific policy recommendations to facilitate EGPRSP implementation;

Main outputs and outcomes:

• Policy Study “Preliminary Assessment of the Implementation of the Economic Growth and Poverty Reduction Strategy”.

Project impact:

The Policy Study “Preliminary Assessment of the Implementation of the Economic Growth and Poverty Reduction Strategy” developed in result of this project was the first systematic attempt to assess ex-ante the impact of the Economic Growth and Poverty Reduction Strategy. The project highlighted the institutional shortcomings affecting both EGPRS implementation and monitoring. The project results were used by the CONTACT Center and the Coalition for Rural Economic Development to promote the economic development needs of the rural areas higher in the Governmental agenda.
