Project goal: Contribute to development of the National Strategic Framework on child issues for researching and designing responsive and efficient social policy in Moldova;
Main activities:
- Held bilateral and multilateral meetings and focus groups with social policy stakeholders (Ministry of Economy, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Health and Social Protection, NGOs, UNICEF, social protection beneficiaries);
- Conducted a Needs Assessment Study;
- Developed a Strategic Framework for addressing child-protection issues;
Main outputs and outcomes:
- Policy Study “Analysis of the state's responsiveness to child protection issues in Republic of Moldova”, authors Valeriu Prohnitchi, Alex Oprunenco, Denis Cenusa, Ana Ganea and Elena Prohnitchi;
Project impact:
The Policy Study conducted analyzes the impact of social and economic transformations on Moldovan children and identifies the main issues affecting the children welfare in the transition context. The project has examined the legal framework of the child protection, identified the stakeholders in the child protection sector and assessed their capacities and degree of involvement in child protection. Through a series of interviews and focus-groups, the project helped mapping the key policy trends and needs as regards the child protection. In result, a set of policy recommendations aiming at improving the responsiveness of the state and non-state stakeholders to child protection issues has been formulated and communicated to UNICEF and the Government.
