Project title: Romania- Republic of Moldova: Advancing Economic Cooperation in the Context of the European Integration;

Project goal: Contribute to the development of the Romanian-Moldovan economic cooperation through analysis of the cooperation opportunities and identification of barriers in bilateral relations;
Main activities:
- Collected and analyzed the statistical data on Moldovan-Romanian trade, bilateral investment, and other economic cooperation aspects;
- Identified Moldovan and Romanian companies and other stakeholders to identify their views regarding economic relations between the two countries;
- Drafted a study on the current situation and potential of economic cooperation between Moldova and Romania;
- Public presentation of the study in Bucharest, Romania (30 of November, 2009) and Chisinau, Moldova (14 of December 2009);
Main outputs and outcomes:
- Policy Study ”Romania – Republic of Moldova: Advancing economic cooperation in the context of the European integration”;
Project impact:
The study offered the Governmental officials and businesses in both countries an assessment of the macroeconomic situation and business climate in both countries. For the business sector, the study may serve as a background paper for the investment decisions, while the Governments may use it to understand the real situation in bilateral economic cooperation and to assess the needs for improvements and further development of the economic cooperation between the two states. The study also represents a source for economic researchers, policy makers and civil society as it is based on highly disaggregated data.
