The project scope is to increase the level of information, awareness and capacities of university students, journalists and opinion leaders about the phenomenon of corruption and measures to diminish corruption risks and consequences in all economic sectors, by means of an academic interdisciplinary course integrated into the curriculum of the Academy of Economic Studies of Moldova and open to students from all universities from Moldova, as well as other relevant interested stakeholders (journalists, bloggers, opinion leaders etc.).
In order to reach the project goal, the following three key objectives will be achieved:
1. Establish partnerships with the Academy of Economic Studies of Moldova, the National Anticorruption Center and other relevant entities, including CSOs, in order to promote the integration of anticorruption courses into the university study programs.
2. Integrate into the study program of the Academy of Economic Studies of Moldova a one-year study interdisciplinary course about anti-corruption measures in public and private entities.
3. Deliver weekly courses for the students, journalists and opinion leaders about the risks of corruption and anti-corruption measures in the public and private sectors.
The ”Anti-corruption and Good Governance” academic course features eight teaching modules that cover the public sector, the private sector and civic empowerment tools and is designed for the duration of an academic year 2019/2020 (September 2019 – June 2020). The learning process will be guided by professors from the Academy of Economic Studies of Moldova, investigators and prosecutors from the National Anticorruption Centre and the Expert-Grup Team.
Each module deals both with theory and practice (case studies and discussion of a real – life example) and includes:
I. Introduction into the anti-corruption policies and integrity in the public sector;
II. Integrity in the private sector;
III. Corruption and money laundering;
IV. Ensuring corruption-free public procurements;
V. Ensuring corruption-free privatizations;
VI. Budgetary transparency and government openness: key preconditions for corruption prevention.
VII. Good governance and anti-corruption policies in the banking industry.
VIII. Good governance and anti-corruption policies in state-owned and private firms.
The Good Governance course is organized in cooperation with the Academy of Economis Studies from Moldova and the National Anticorruption Centre. Upon completion of the course, the students receive 5 ECTS (European Credit Transfer System) credits.
