For the first time in history Republic of Moldova takes part in the OBI (Open Budget Index). This index measures the budgetary transparency and the access of public to the budgetary information. About 115 countries participate in this ranking, and the results are determined by the accumulated points. Among the countries with the highest points are New Zeeland, Sweden and South Africa.
Expert-Grup evaluated this index in the past based on the mechanisms similar to OBI, observing that in the past there were no improvements to this index mainly due to political constraints. In 2015 Moldova obtained 59 points out of 100, this remained unchanged since 2012 because of the limited budgetary information offered by the government.
Until now our country was ranked as 27th out of 100, having similar results with Argentina and Indonesia. Find out how the level of budgetary transparency in Moldova evolved at the official launch of the international ranking on January 31. For updates please follow us on social media and our web page.
