The Agricultural Subsidies fund has become in the recent years one of the most important policy tools shaping the development of the Moldovan agricultural sector. The purpose of this paper is to analyse how the package of funded policy measures is being formed, how resources are allocated and how payments are done. The results of the research show that the subsidy measures implemented in the period did not have a stable and predictable character, were not based on solid evidence in case of their introduction, modification or exclusion and that the funded measures did not reflect an explicit policy towards the agricultural market. For most measures, the objectives of granting the subsidy were not sufficiently clear defined, monitored and subsequently evaluated in terms of their impact. Another problem is the lack of a distinct approach towards the measures related to recovery of payments for current and investment expenditures, requiring a clear differentiation regarding the grounding, formulation, and the modality of attribution of these expenditures.
