Independent Think-Tank Expert-Grup invites all those interested at the roundtable of presenting and discussing the report “The Bridge over Prut river, version 2.0: electricity interconnection between Romania and the Republic of Moldova”.
The study aims to evaluate the various meaning of the electricity interconnection between Romania and the Republic of Moldova. It describes the existing problems in the electricity sector, in particular: the regulatory shortcomings, non-transparent bids and the implications deriving from the electricity imports from Transnistrian region. It also presents three different scenarios for interconnection with Romania and explains which of them is the most sustainable. In addition, the study brings out the lessons to be learned from Romania-Moldova natural gas interconnection.
Lastly, the study includes recommendations on the measures that shall be undertaken by the Moldovan and Romanian authorities, and the EU and Energy Community, in order to successfully implement the electricity interconnection between Moldova and Romania.
